Radicchio

This member of the chicory family comes in several varieties. One variety has oblong leaves with pointed ends, and grow in small, tightly packed heads. A different variety grows in loosely packed round heads, similar in shape to butterhead lettuce. Both of which have purple leaves with white ribs.
